Will blogging give birth to a new generation of writers?

As far back as I can cast my mind, I always liked to write, regardless of what it was, a story, poem or an experience.  Most of what we wrote sat motionless in a folder, piled beneath other folders, to remain there forever.  Then came the internet, then came blogging and our minds once again exploded with the urge to share our thoughts and feelings to others….but are we all budding writers in reality?

Since joining the blogging world in December, I’ve had the opportunity to read numerous blogs, be they short, long, funny, serious.  It just makes me wonder whether our experience in blogging will elevate us to go on and write something that would one day be published.  Blogging strives on our experiences, thoughts, perceptions and opinions.  Therefore we may tend to venture out more than we ever have, to experience something new so we can share it with our blogging community.  Overtime we will build up (providing we continually blog) a vast library of blogs, but could we draw on all this blogging to write a book, fiction or non-fiction?

What are your thoughts on this?

  1. Great post. I think you have a point, some bloggers material are wonderful. And if it wasn’t for blogging, I don’t think some people would’ve recognized there talent. Everyone has a hidden talent. For me, blogging is all about using my voice to type and it can also be liberating and very therapeutic.
