2012 – it’s all about Simple Tasks, not New Year’s Resolutions

On the 31st December 2010 I wrote a post around how I would be identifying simple aims for 2011 and not referring them to New Year’s Resolutions.  Why?  Well I looked up the definition of New Year’s Resolutions and it didn’t quite fit with the whole logic, I mean I don’t have any habits that I would want to change…

I then went on to submit a couple of follow-up posts on my progress, well put it this way, I was not shifting mountains.  For your amusement, these follow-up posts can be viewed here > Summary of January 2011 and Q1 2011, on trackNote: I produced no further summary of updates between Q2 – Q4, I guess I just got swamped with life’s speedy ride.

Anyway, again, it’s that time of the year and we are all probably drafting up a list of New Year’s Resolutions, but not me.  My simple aims will be achievable, I hope.

Before I begin, here’s a very brief summary of my simple aims from last year, only three, one major, two minor.

1.       Developing my business idea – In full flow. [Complete]

2.       Covert my audio tapes – too many, I am keeping them as is and also a tape deck, so I can listen to them when I feel like.  [Void]

3.       Convert my VHS tapes – I have trimmed this down to our wedding VHS tapes and this is being rolled into 2012, see below.

So, here’s my Simple Aims for 2012 – what’s yours?

  1. I am in ‘the making’ for what I intend to do in 2012 – Assuming we all survive 2012 as some may have us believe the end of the world.

The first thing I want to focus on is my business model other than my career: This means expanding into other areas which have been on my radar for half a year or so, but due to time constraints never managed to put idea into practice – 2012 shall be the year to mature this idea into reality.

The second thing is to continue my dedicated focus on my PhD study at University (part time), I have another 3 part time years to go, so I intend to nail some big deadlines in 2012.

On the radar is: Creative Writing, Fitness and a tour of India/Pakistan/Sri-Lanka.

I will however develop these further into a post but I do have few weeks yet.

    1. Hey there BAB.

Well I can tell you with confidence that 2012 is not the end of the world, although it’s certainly the end of the notion of “value for money” life.

What are you doing your PhD in? I love studying and although I should have done my Masters straight after my undergrad. degree, I just never took that step. I think further study now will probably come in the form of an MBA one day…soon as I can find someone to “fund” it.

You must get yourself over to India soon as, otherwise you will find it looks too much like the UK, States and someone other Western state and that accessing the slums is going to be far too dangerous.

  2. PhD is in Telemedicine or e-Health or Tele-health, I found a problem with the UK healthcare, so I proposed my research to a University and they accepted it – hence could only do it Part Time due to work commitments. I’m funding it out of my own pocket (and it ain’t cheap) but in the last few years I have had some generous offers from leading health providers to fund it, including two major International brands (one ending with …soft and the end with ..gle) but I told them Thank You but No Thanks.

It’s a massive market and today’s technology has made it possible and more importantly affordable. This is the next generation of healthcare all delivered to you no matter where you are or who you are.

  3. I think you have everything under control in a positive way. I always keep n mind this saying “You completed what you were supposed to complete. Everything else will come in time.” But make sure to keep your wedding memories safe and transfer them over 🙂

  4. I think in 2012 for me is just getting through it with good health and my family with me because nothing is more important.

I’m not really into keeping goals or making new year resolutions. I think if something is for you it won’t go by you. So if something is going to happen it will and there are times we try our hardest and nothing comes of it.

A new year for me is about reflecting on the past.. Seeing how far I’ve come.. .. What I’ve learned, gained and lost. Thanking Allah for all the positives in my life and sometimes the negatives too because they are what makes us stronger as individuals.

Oh and maybe in 2012 I might just find the perfect guy… Not found him yet… There’s always hope 😉

  5. You seem to have everything under control i wish i was so organized lol i have no new years resolutions at all *sigh* I just want good health, family and happiness 🙂 Hope you have an awesome festive season and happy new year stay blessed
