“perked up and shared my thoughts on greed”
This one is related to my weekly Friday post published a few days ago. In my local supermarket we were no strangers to panic buying. In the lane next to me a lady had a shopping trolley filled with large bottles of water (I counted 5 packs of 6 2litre bottles), a crate of tins of beans, tomatoes and 6 packs of pasta. Maybe she was buying for neighbours, maybe not.. but I so wanted to tell her to consider others!
But I grit my teeth, scanned my 6 pint of milk, pack of eggs and a birthday card, and zoomed off. Oh which of the seven deadly sins does this represent?

My sister went full on panic mode and ran up $600 on her credit card buying supplies for two months. I looked at their stockpile and thought, it’s people doing this that is why the supply is depleted. This isn’t some sort of Christmas sale where you buy 6 TVs cos they’re on sale for a good price. Maybe buying two weeks of supplies, but two months? So now she’s in debt over a grand and will have nothing to show for it.
And who knows how many families are doing without because of doing idiotic things like that? Greed and gluttony at its finest.
May be she was preparing for a Netflix Marathon with friends. 😀
But yeah, it’s natural for people to stock up for the emergency but it does not mean you have to sweep the store clean. I read somewhere around 2012 that some millionaires have built doomsday bunkers filled with provisions that could last for months.
Yes I should build one of those but my essentials would be a football table, a pool table, popcorn machine, VHS recorder and 1970s/80s classic Bollywood movies.

Yesterday only we were discussing what would happen if electricity supply goes off due to some fault. We might have to stay without power for a couple of days. We need candles n match boxes too. 😂
