Each week I will (try and) share a small segment of something useful I learnt. While this is for my own amusement I hope it resonates with my lovely readers.
When I put off sleeping on time
It’s nearing 22.30 and I put the leftovers in the fridge. Then turning off the kitchen lights I head to turn off the TV. An advert appears stating the next movie is Good Will Hunting.
“Great film that” I tell myself.
“I’ll catch the first 15 minutes and then head to bed”.
It’s nearing 23.50 and the film is reaching its epic climax, that final confrontation (no spoiler alert). Once again I’ve fallen foul of being sucked in to a great movie. That’s view number 8 I think….
I can add Deads Poets Society and The Godfather to the list of “keep me up films”.
Is there a movie that would keep you glued instead of going to bed?
Oh, there are so many, but I prefer to be kept up by a good book!
I switched my reading to an early morning ritual a while back. But I can recall picking up ‘The Graduate’ one night and reading it cover to cover. I think it was 3am when I finished it…
Been there, done that!!!
Tropic Thunder. Hysterical
Great film
My record has been for the movie “Ayutha Ezhuthu” – the original Tamil version of “Yuva” – 8 times in the cinemas. The movie is about events told in 3 different perspectives and each time I watched, I noticed something new which I felt was amazing. Btw, Tamil version was far better than the Hindi version because of the performance as well as sequencing of certain scenes.
Wow. I’m gobsmacked!!
Anything sci fi. And if I see any of The Matrix films are on, I’m hooked!
Ditto! My time is then deffo stolen
I really struggle to maintain enough attention span for films. I’m more a music and book person.
Favourite genre of music and books?
hahahaha this happens to me all the time! There are plenty of content that can keep me glued , not specifically movie. I binge watch a lot of series on Netflix or Amazon Prime videos . The latest one that I finished in one go, because i could not wait, was “Chaman Bahar” on Netflix , “panchayat” and “Patal Lok” on Prime videos.
Oh loved Panchayat!!! Such a lovely pace and the characters were great. Can’t wait for season 2…will check out Patal Lok
Ya Panchayat was awesome!!!! All the actors are brilliant in that. I really like the lead though Jitendra kumar 🙈
Watch Patal lok please!!!!! It is mind blowing.
I think OTT platform has just grown and for better. I see a lot of talented actors, writers, directors getting chance, which is so amazing!!
100% agree and much better than the cheesy Bollywood casts I have to say
Yesss!!! And as a movie/series junkie, I am loving it!!!
I prefer both film–like suspense/thriller or music like Hazir–Harigaran and zakir Hussain . It’s amazing.
Zakir Hussain…what a legend 🙌
Yeh. But you will be astonished to know that a boy in you tube(I have forgotten his name) played tabla in the same way as Zakir Hussain played at Hazir album. Really it’s all God gifted matter.
I haven’t seen Good Will Hunting or Dead Poets Society but the Star Wars movies definitely keep me glued to the screen.
You must watch GWH and DPS…I have a feeling you will like them both, trust me on that one.
I’ll be sure to check them out!
Books, movies and blog posts. They all have the same effect on me. They keep me up past my bedtime!
Good choice of the movie
