Why No Poetry

Why no poetry on my blog,
Is it that I have a fear,
Are my creative pipes all blocked,
Cos there’s no topic, to me that dear.

Poets write about love and passion,
Poets spill tales of joy and sadness,
I’m only as good as a horror slash-em,
Anyone reading will think it’s madness.

And so a poetry post eludes me,
I think I should just leave,
But rest assure I’m a busy bee,
There’s something good up my sleeve.

I don’t tend to write much poetry, you can see why.

Trains of Thought

They sit side by side on the faded seat,
Her eyes are red, puffed from the tears,
She drops her head and looks to her right,
He is scrolling through his phone, glued.
Headphones in ears his attention distracted,
She studies his face, sadness has overcome,
The sounds of laughter behind her flinch her not.

In that moment she looks for assurance,
But he doesn’t look up, he doesn’t realise.
Rolling her head back she tilts to look,
Through the window at hazy trees.

The outside scenery creating an ocean of green,
A small thin tear rolls down her left cheek,
Quickly wiping it she ruffles through her bag,
He pops his head up, gives her a gentle nudge.

The moment of assurance it seems has passed,
They are two strangers now, a weary smile tells all,
His eyes plead to reason, hers pleads for freedom.

The train pulls into the station, they both,
get up.
Her hand on his shoulder. Sometimes,
we must remain persistent in trying,
to find solace.
In those who miss the signs!

Failsafe Option

The sheer Irony of it!

He created the universe, the planets,

Its solar systems and the stars,

He then took a fancy to a small blob.

It was just colour at the time,

And so he breathed life into it,

And named it Earth.

But the blob just sat there,

Not wanting to create a bond,

A connection with its Creator.

He then created people to inhabit it,

Made good and bad scenarios,

Let people decide what they wanted.

A chance for them to form that bond,

A connection with their Creator.

He advised them of good practice,

That they remember Him in their way,

That good deeds and honest thoughts,

Would steer them across rocky oceans,

Into the mindful, blissful rising sun,

Towards their beloved Creator.

But, the people didn’t listen,

Taking no notice, becoming ignorant,

They treated life like a candy shop,

‘A tick in here’ would keep Him content,

Their foolish thoughts tricked Him not,

So He played one more scenario.

! And So It Is!

That in the time of Death,

When we stand close to the cold corpse,

When we can feel ever so closely,

The resting arm of Death upon us,

When a shiver fires through our body,

It is at that precise moment,

That we want Him ever closer to us.

Wake up! We are paper thin.

Write! Hold Firm

Write! Hold firm, and write without fear,
With Love in your heart of someone dear.
Be not afraid to burn the midnight oil,
Otherwise with regret you’ll forever toil.

If the world deem, you barking mad,
Hold smile on your face, don’t feel sad.
Let the words flow free and wide,
Their honesty will battle any tide.

Many will tell you, you can’t write,
That it’s as hard as trying, to fly a kite.
It’s time to stand firm, words can mend,
Have faith,  make pen your closest friend.

Make paper your path on which to walk,
Become that listener,  hear people talk.
There will be times when the hand will ache,
Lift it up and give it a good shake.
There will be moments when you get writers block,
Take a break,  it’s not a race against the clock.

If this is the one,  then do take your time,
To rush the words would be the ultimate crime.

Life is like the Road you Know!

Life is like the road you know
The bike like the mind inside you
And you the cyclist, navigating your way.

You’ll see the cracks in the road often
And learn to avoid them carefully
Hell you”ll become so good at it
That you’ll have learnt
Where the minute gradient in the crack
Will give you the less strain and danger.

But sometimes there are external elements
Those well outside your control
Like the wind, the rain, the summer heat
Will often throw you off course
So maybe next time, you won’t be sure anymore.

And you hit that same crack hard
It dislodges you from the bike
And both it and you suffer the pain and hurt.

Overtime, bikes can be repaired
And like the mind they learn to go on again
With time, the cyclist can regain their confidence
With time, they can learn to trust the bike again.

The elements will always be there
It’s God’s nature and creation
And those elements in our lives will always be there
They are just human nature.

And yet it’s simple to just change your route
To never ride there again
But remember.
That road may have been your starting point
And that it’s OK to go back again
And that it’s OK if you fall again
That’s just the road.
